Update: unfortunately I've had to uninstall it. The recordings are poor quality and unintelligible, and the app has lots of glitches where you have to click back and forth or it closes early, and is generally difficult to use in addition to being laggy. // Previously: Best app for learning languages I've found so far. I really like it. Was confused by some issue with gold not loading correctly. was confused by the new format but nothing was actually wrong. Thanks for making such a great app

I was really enjoying this app, but the last update made major changes to the interface. I don't know what they were thinking, but it's practically unusable now. The gestures are so sensitive that trying to scroll to read often changes the page instead. The buttons are smashed together and hard to hit precisely. The audio starts on its own, it seems. And the translation popup covers half the page so you can't translate words near the bottom. Roll back the changes and test more next time.

The progress on a story is always lost when I minimize the app, which is annoying. Also I can't select a word if it's separated on different lines, which is also inconvenient. The annoying message telling my I have all the tools always reappears no matter how many times I close it. There's a pause after every sentence, but not after the last sentence in a part, and I have to stop the audio before it's finished to prevent it from going to the next part.

Having installed all the language apps I could find to compliment my Spanish lessons, Beelinguapp suited me the most. There is no gamification and rather than the annoyingly repetitive learning of the same words and short phrases, whole texts can be read and listened to at your own pace and unfamiliar words analysed or saved for later study. The narration is also very clear and well paced. I would like to see the glossary feature imprived as it quickly becomes unwieldy.

Not recommended unless you like the convenience. I'm trying to learn Hindi, which this app supports (good!). Unfortunately, the stories are poorly selected. Most children's stories are in the past tense. This isnt useful when you begin learning - you need a variety of tenses. Also, the Hindi speaker does not speak clearly and his recordings have a lot of distracting background noise. Sometimes they even glitch and his voice drops out. Definitely not worth paying for. Also, copy text doesnt work.

If you're looking for something free, don't bother with the app if you hate constant ads even in a premium trial. There are constant popups and notifications to get premium and so much blocked content for a free user to pay for premium. As much as the content is nice there are other options out there that are less annoying. There's a whole section on the app to "Help Us" with stories and translations and I'm not even sure why that's a thing too^^

The lack of pinyin support is very disappointing, and the beginners Mandarin text selection isn't very well graded, since I can read most texts from Chinese Breeze and Mandarin Companion beginner level, but I'm having a hard time with Beelinguapp texts. The audio and the text are out of sync, and there are audio bugs that have been reported to the developer, but still there's no fix. I wish I could get a refund.

Honestly, I think the concept is great. I've been looking for short and really easy texts in Swedish that are offered right with their English translation, and with audio to help listening as well. Although I found the messages to upgrade a little too brash, I thought the concept was worth it to pay for a month to see what it's like. Here's where I ran into problems. I bought the Pro version first, thinking I would be able to use the in-app translation, but I couldn't. Then I bought the Gold, but it looks like I was billed twice, and actually had both subscriptions on my Google Play account. That seems like a bug. Another issue I had was that the banners to upgrade didn't immediately disappear and let me use Pro's features after I upgraded and I wasn't sure what to do at this point. The problem went away after I bought Gold. The app is a little buggy sometimes in its interface, but the main reason I didn't continue using it was because the choice in stories was very limited and dare I say, not interesting. I really enjoyed the story about Sarah and her roommates, and the "easy sentences". I wasn't interested in the children's books or the fairy tales though. I think it would be more helpful to write really simple stories about everyday life which are thematic. For example, you could create a simple story about a girl trying on clothes for a date. Lots of opportunity for descriptors there as well as clothing words (and pictures). Or, about someone telling about their family. For best teaching effectiveness, repeated mention of the target vocab would be super helpful. I don't usually write reviews but I really think this app has a great concept. With a bit of work (no, probably a lot of work) you could turn it into something super useful. Then, I'd probably continue using it.

Great idea, but very poorly executed (at least for Portuguese). For the handful of stories I went through, I found there was at least some audio issues. Some of the text would not match exactly what the reader was saying. But the most frustrating part of the experience is the volume of the recording would be extremely low forcing me to turn up the volume all the way. Then at some transition between sentences, there would be a very long and disruptive sound (almost like static) and would scare me
